Lady A is suing Lady A…
ACM is talking about next year’s ACMs…
Lady A is suing Lady A.
The two have been locked in a battle over the name since announcing in June that they were dropping Antebellum from their name.
A few weeks ago, they thought they’d come to an agreement with R&B singer Anita White, who’s been performing as Lady A for 20 years. But those talks broke down, and now the group’s lawyers say Anita is trying to keep them from enforcing a trademark they registered a decade ago. They add that she’s demanded $10 million to relinquish her claim to the name.
Country Lady A insist that they wouldn’t try to keep R&B Lady A from performing as Lady A, just that they want her to allow them to perform as well.
The Academy of Country Music has announced that the 56th annual ACM Awards will air live from Nashville on Sunday, April 18th on CBS.
This year’s show, the 55th annual, was postponed from April and will take place on September 10th. Hosted by Keith Urban, the show will air from the Grand Ole Opry House, Ryman Auditorium and The Bluebird Cafe.
Additional details regarding next year’s event, including hosts, presenters and performers, will be announced in the coming months.
