Elvie Shane talks songwriting…
Lee Brice does too…
What started out as an innocent writing session for Elvie Shane and his “My Boy” co-writers turned into a bonding moment and a hit song.
He said, “I started talking about this Facebook post a friend of mine’s stepmother had sent me the night before. It said, ‘I don’t have a stepson, I have a son that was born before I met him,’ and that just really resonated with me.”
Recording his Hey World album during the pandemic may have taken Lee Brice and the musicians a little longer as they recorded their parts alone, but Lee was pleasantly surprised with the results.
He said, “I feel like because we got slowed down, it actually made some of the parts even better. So, maybe in a way, the second half of the record, the songs that were recorded in that way, I think may be even are as good or better because of the process.”
It all worked because he has two hits from Hey World – “One of Them Girls” and “Memory I Don’t Mess With.”
